Washington, DC —
The business mailing and shipping community stands ready to work with the Administration, Congress, the Postal Service (USPS), and other interested stakeholders to ensure a strong, reliable, and affordable postal system that is accountable to every American. The Coalition for a 21st Century Postal Service (C21), representing a broad cross-section of the mailers, shippers, manufacturers and suppliers at the core of a $1.9 trillion industry, employing nearly 8 million workers, believes it essential, and has the expertise, to engage in discussions about the future of USPS and contribute to solutions that will strengthen the Postal Service’s long-term operational and financial stability.
C21 recognizes that addressing the challenges confronting USPS requires collaboration, transparency, and input from all stakeholders. To that end, mailers, shippers, manufacturers, and suppliers are committed to working constructively to explore strategies that enhance mail and package delivery service while keeping postal rates affordable for consumers and businesses. With USPS reporting significant financial losses and ongoing operational concerns, now is the time for open dialogue and partnership. C21 and its members would welcome the opportunity to be part of such a critical conversation to develop practical, workable solutions that benefit all Americans.
###
C21 consists of business mailing associations and companies – newspapers, advertisers, catalogers,
e-commerce, parcels, greeting cards, financial services, telecommunications, insurance, small businesses of every kind, paper, printing, technology, envelope manufacturing, mail services, who understand the essential role of USPS and want it sustained for the future. It broadly represents an industry generating $1.6 trillion in sales and supporting 7.3 million private sector jobs.
